John Anthony & Susannah Potter Family
John Anthony was the original Anthony immgrant. Although he was born in Hempstead, England. His obit said he was a "Hampsheer man " of "old englland" when he died in 1675. He settled in Portsmouth, Rhode Island where he met and married Susannah Potter. He was originally scheduled to sail on the ship Mary & John but was delayed so instead set sail for the new world on the Hercules. John generally sign his last name as Anthonie. He was the son and grandson of well known physicians from London.
