Patrick Martin and his wife Elizabeth Crofton lived in Bray, Wicklow, Ireland. Bray is a town that fronts on the Irish Sea and is relatively close to Dublin. They lived in an area called Dock Terrace which was very close to the water. They had 6 children and at least one emigrated. Joseph left at the age of 20 in 1867.
