This page is devoted to all of the documents and records collected for the William A Shepherd MD family. William was born to Reuben and Elizabeth Dare Shepherd who were very early settlers of Highland County. Ther family went back and forth between New Jersey and Ohio when William was very young. As William grew up in the pioneer life of Highland County, he made a fateful decision and decided to beconme a doctor. He likely studied with a local doctor and then finished his education at the medical school in Cincinnati or Philadelphia. Frances Ann Rogers was born in Virginia to Quaker parents William A. Rogers and Mary Leonard Rogers. William brought his family to the still wild Highland county in the 1820s. It was here she met and married William Shepherd. They raised 4 children with three being boys and one girl. The girl was named for her mother but was known as Frankie virtually her entire life. William's son William W. Shepherd became a doctor like his father. Henry A. Shepherd became a lawyer, legislator and author while Theodore became a farmer.
